Pittsburgh FRIENDS!!! I'm coming to town!!

Booking SESSIONS on Friday afternoon, Saturday morning and Sunday morning in Pittsburgh, PA on these following weekends in 2013:

September 13 - 15
September 27 - 29
October 4 - 6
October 18 - 20
November 1 - 3
November 15 - 17 

Contact me if you are interested!!!! Derrick plays his games at 1PM in West Liberty, so sessions on Saturday morning need to start at 8:30 to allow me enough time to spend time with you and to get to his game to photograph.




Also if any 'burgh peeps are interested, West Liberty is playing Duquesne this year on October 5th at 1PM at Duquesne.   I recommend a Downtown tailgate, stagger up the hill, and then back down again for a night out.

its been raining softballs....

My last few months have been busy with softball action...
Here is a little about me and my other photography passion.

Of course, my sports blog has also been neglected, but you can few all the action HERE in "my closet" or HERE on my Facebook Biz Page.  But hoping to get caught up.  In the meantime, juggling the biz with the family, so thank you for your patience over these busy summer months.

Speaking of vacation, my hubbie and I will be going on a StayCation for the August 4th while the kids, YES BOTH KIDS, are away at camp!!  I'm so excited!!  So work will continue beginning on August 12th.  Will try very hard to get any outstanding projects done beforehand.  Also, the week of August 26th through Labor Day will also be enjoying our last days of summer as a family.

In the meantime, if you are thinking of booking a fall session, call now.  My weekend availability is very limited due to FOOTBALL (my oldest son plays DII football for West Liberty University in West Virginia!!), and I'm taking last holiday sessions before Thanksgiving.  Of course, you can always take advantage of my weekday school hour special...check out the PROMOS for more information.

the olivia act

The Olivia Act, named after Olivia Rose Engel killed in Newtown, was started by a photographer. Olivia's family had just recently had family portraits taken by professional photographer, Tim Nosenzo, just a short time before she was killed. Those pictures are precious and now priceless to them. Upon hearing this, the photographer was moved to give away a 30 minute family session and has challenged other photographers to do the same. We go about our daily lives and sometimes do not take the time or have the resources to have family portraits taken.

I will be donating one 30 minute photography session to one family for a 2013 session. I will be taking nominations for a family who you think would appreciate having family portraits done. I will take nominations until December 31st. Please only email these nominations to denise@denisemarieolson.com putting "The Olivia Act Nomination" in the subject line. Please email their name, contact information and a brief summary of why you chose them. The chosen family will be contacted via email. Please do not post any information on facebook. The gift is a 30 minute session and 15 digital images. The session is to take place in Corning, New York. Such a priceless gift, one that can be hung around their house, and shared for generations. Wow, did not realize that the last time I blogged was April, right before our move.  Well, we are here in Corning NY and needless to say, still getting settled.  However, still working hard.  Setting up the business here in New York, slowly establishing a studio space (you would think with my new house there would be at least one room that I can call my studio...no; but I do have a fab office now!!  With a door!!).  Until then I love the adventure of the outdoors and other indoor establishments.

Well on another note, my collaborative work was published as an ad for CostumeManager.com in the July issue of "Dance Studio Life" .  Spear heading the ad project, President and owner of CostumeManager.com, Paul Henderson, and graphic designer, Arden Waters, approached me in choosing the appropriate photos for the ad and wanted to use the illustrative features of the  StoryBook Look ® Art by Jessica Dittmer, that I collaboratively offer to my dance and session clients.  The ideas were discussed and with Jessica's final artistic touches to the image, we came up with a unique look for the CostumeManager.com ad.

rain rain go away.

...then again, I just LOVE RAINY sessions!!!!  Call me if you have the cute gear and are interested.  Only a few more rainy days in the P-town area before our wonderful sun showers us with warmth for 9 months!!!!

tiffany's dance academy calendars...

Playdate anyone???

With the warm weather approaching, and for some us its already here, our little ones are begging to go to parks, the zoo, or just in our backyards to play, play, and play!! Playdates, and other spontaneous fun-filled adventures are a fun way to gain social interaction for our children. But have you ever been to the park, and your child makes friends with the other children... the other moms realize that you all get together more often, and you go to your purses rummaging through old receipts to use as paper to write down your contact information...only to realize that you don't have a pen either. Business people have business cards, high school seniors have 411 or rep cards....adults have calling cards...well, kids should have "mommy cards" {daddies too!!}...
